Formed in a Boston basement, Dropkick Murphys have worked themselves up and onto
the roster of Hellcat Records, run by Tim Armstrong of Rancid (Rancid's Lars
Frederiksen produced it.) It's easy to see why they caught his ear; they play
punk rock with a fiery and individual approach that mirrors Armstrong's clan,
but doesn't mimic it. Mixing many punk elements into the songs to keep them
fresh, Dropkick Murphys draw upon a martial sound that mimics the military theme
of the cover. In turn, they produce a stout collection of homegrown punk rock
with a tinge of attitude.
